Somatic Breathwork
Breathe, Reset, and Reconnect
Somatic Breathwork is a guided practice that uses conscious, connected breathing to bring greater awareness to what is happening in the body — not just what is happening in our thoughts.
It gives you space to step away from constantly thinking, analysing and trying to work everything out, and instead become curious about what you’re actually experiencing.
The aim isn’t to force a particular outcome or to “fix” anything. It’s about developing a greater connection with yourself and creating more Clarity, Confidence and Choice in how you respond.
What is Somatic Breathwork?
Somatic Breathwork is a guided practice that uses conscious, connected breathing to bring greater awareness to what is happening in the body — not just what is happening in our thoughts.
“Somatic” simply means relating to the body and our felt experience.
During a practice, the breath helps you move away from constantly thinking, analysing and trying to work everything out, and instead become curious about what you’re actually experiencing — physical sensations, tension, emotions, energy, thoughts or whatever else may arise.
The practice has two parts: a fuller connected breathing phase, followed by a slower settling phase that gives the nervous system time to rest and integrate the experience.
The aim isn’t to force a particular outcome. It’s to notice, reconnect and create more Clarity, Confidence and Choice in how you respond.
Somatic Breathwork can support you to notice what is happening in your body and nervous system with more awareness and curiosity.
You may experience:
- greater awareness of stress and tension
- a stronger connection with your body
- space for emotions or physical sensations to move and be noticed
- a greater sense of calm, clarity or groundedness after the settling phase
- more choice in how you respond to what you’re experiencing
Everyone’s experience is different. There is no right or wrong outcome, and nothing you need to make happen. The invitation is simply to notice what is there.
What to Expect in a Session
We begin by arriving, getting comfortable and briefly introducing the practice so you know what to expect. You may be invited to set an intention or simply notice how you’re feeling before we begin.
I’ll then guide you through the breathing practice. You can:
- lie comfortably on a mat
- remain seated if that suits you better
The practice moves through a more active connected-breathing phase and then into a slower period of settling, rest and integration.
At the end, there’s time to gently return, notice how you’re feeling and reflect on your experience.
